'33017', earlier known as 'C17' was numerically the first of the Ashford built engines although it was not the first to be completed, being outshopped in May 1942. In common with a
nunber of the class it was modified in later years with AWS equipment, spark arrester gear and had pipework lagged. Safety links were also fitted. The locomotive was finally withdrawn in January 1964.
